I love the arts in all forms - literature, music, dance, theater, painting, sculpture - I could go on and on. I am fortunate to call Saratoga Springs, NY home, which is a community that fully embraces the arts. Saratoga Springs is the summer home of the New York City Ballet and the Philadelphia Orchestra and attracts many concert events at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. I often feel a little spoiled having such ease of access to such quality performances.
I am an avid reader - my favorite genre being fantasy. My love for fantasy was sparked by the work of Tolkien, however I grew up on and fell in love with fairy tales as a small child. I still love a good fairy tale. I enjoy escaping to the worlds of fairies, dragons, and elves. These stories have always been able to capture my imagination. I love the magical, mystical, mysterious qualities they offer.
My personal creative outlets come through figure skating and writing. I began figure skating at the age of 10 and developed an Olympic size love and passion for the sport, although not an Olympic sized ability. I hear a piece of music and I start to envision choreography to it in my head. Skating has always provided me an escape from the stress of everyday living. Writing has been something I have also dabbled in from an early age - it was my sixth grade teacher that really began to encourage me down this road. I have been fortunate to take some of the skills and aptitude for writing and use it to build a career as an editor.
I also love sports and it isn't uncommon to find me cheering on my beloved Orangemen or the New York Yankees. Syracuse University is my alma mater and I spent many a Saturday and weeknights in the Dome cheering on the football and basketball teams. I love the game of baseball; I am big on tradition and love the history and tradition of the game. I can't ever remember not being a Yankee fan...and I will always miss Phil Rizzuto and his stories while watching the games on TV. My choice of football teams has changed over the years, again I am attracted to teams with strong histories and traditions - my latest affinity has been for the Seattle Seahawks.
I have also been truly blessed with wonderful family and friends. They make me laugh and lift me up. They all have such varied interests and talents and I love to see them succeed and happy! They inspire me!
